Why this one earns its place
Winterhalter A12TK is a powdered active chlorine concentrate built for one specific and common problem: the tea and coffee staining that a standard glasswashing cycle can’t shift once it’s dried on. It’s designed for commercial dishwashers and targets tough, dried-on stains and discolouration on glasses and dishes, the kind of thing that ends up scrubbed by hand otherwise.
It goes further than staining alone, also removing yeast and other organic beverage residues from drinking glasses – relevant for any site running a bar alongside food service, where beer and wine residue behaves differently to tea and coffee marks. Beyond individual items, it’s also used for the hygienic basic cleaning of the dishwasher itself, and it’s suitable across glass, porcelain, plastic and stainless steel, so it’s not limited to glassware only.
It’s also rated for basic cleaning by soaking, which is useful for badly stained items that need a longer soak before they’ll go through a normal cycle cleanly. As with the rest of the Winterhalter range, it’s recommended for use alongside the matched warewasher, detergents, rinse aids and water treatment rather than as a standalone product mixed with something else. It comes as a white, unperfumed powder in a 1kg pack, and carries an irritant hazard classification.

Read the label and the manufacturer’s safety data sheet — the pictograms tell you what you are holding.

Who could be harmed, and how badly? Judge likelihood against severity before anyone opens the cap.

Eliminate or substitute first, engineer and organise next — PPE is the last line, never the first.

Keep the controls working: check ventilation, dosing equipment and storage stay as they should be.

Everyone who uses it knows the hazards, the correct dilution and the PPE — before the first shift, not after.

Products and processes change. Reassess when they do, and keep the record that proves it.
Guidance summary only — the product label, the current safety data sheet and your own COSHH assessment remain the authority.
