Storage Fridges

Storage fridges cover general-purpose chilled storage cabinets — upright, under-counter, chest and specialist formats — used across pubs, cafes, hotels, care homes and dark kitchens to hold fresh stock at +1 to +4°C between deliveries and service. Format is the organising decision: tall uprights for volume, under-counter cabinets where floor space is short, and specialist meat, fish, blast-chilling and medical categories where holding conditions differ from general food storage. Capacity, footprint, noise level and warranty length are the practical specs to compare across models.

Storage Fridges — FAQs

What’s the difference between a storage fridge and a refrigerated prep counter?

Storage fridges are for general chilled holding of stock, usually with plain shelving, while refrigerated prep counters add a GN pan gantry above a worktop specifically for active ingredient prep during service.

Do all commercial storage fridges use the same refrigerant?

Most modern commercial fridges use R290 (propane) or R600a for improved energy efficiency and lower environmental impact, though some older or larger units still use R134a — check the spec sheet for the exact refrigerant type.
