THE WORKING VIEW

Why this salamander grill earns its place

A salamander lives above your pass, heating and finishing plates, steaks, and toast at service pace. This Lincat model comes with ceramic plaque burners that heat fast and hold steady, with variable settings so you're not locked to one temperature. The interior and hood are vitreous enamelled—they're wipe-clean, which matters in a working kitchen.

At 750 mm wide and 405 mm high, it fits the standard 400 mm grid you'll find on most prep stations. At 6500 W, it pulls decent power, and the throughput backs it up: 56 burgers an hour, 42 steaks an hour, or 200 slices of toast. That's what the stainless steel exterior and tight footprint were built for.

The kit comes with a crumb tray (because crumbs happen), a branding plate for logos, and a toasting grid—all with cool-touch handles so you're not burning your hands mid-service. The 2-year parts and labour warranty is standard protection for this class of kit.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

At 56 burgers per hour, a salamander isn't your volume workhorse—it's your precision finisher. For a 80-100 cover service, one salamander handles plate finishing, gratins, and toast alongside your main kitchen. Two units in a busy venue is common for full control.

A salamander heats from above and focuses heat on the top surface—perfect for quick finishing, melting cheese, or browning without cooking through. A standard oven heats all around; it's slower and uses more energy if you only need surface colour.

This unit is natural gas only. If your venue runs LPG or has no piped gas, you'd need the LPG variant. Gas supply is a setup question—confirm with your installer before ordering.

At 6500 W, it's a standard single-phase plug supply in most UK kitchens—same as your main ovens. Your electrician will confirm the circuit can handle it. For gas, you'll need the supply fitted by a qualified engineer.

The vitreous enamelled surfaces wipe clean with hot water and a mild degreaser—no harsh scrubbing. The crumb tray slides out and empties, keeping debris off the heating elements. Cool to touch before you clean, obviously.

The variable heat control is manual—you adjust it yourself during service. If the thermostat needs replacement, call our service line on 01792 732702 and we'll sort it under warranty. Two-year cover takes that risk out of the equation.
