Why this blast chiller earns its place
The Polar U-Series UA016 is a large-capacity blast chiller/shock freezer built for high-volume operations that need to cool substantial quantities of food quickly and safely. It reliably chills 40kg of food from +70°C to +3°C in 90 minutes, and freezes 28kg from +70°C to -18°C in 240 minutes, with 10x GN 1/1 pan capacity (shelves sold separately) — enough scale for canteens, hotels, hospitals and restaurants running high-volume cook-chill operations rather than single-batch prep.
Control is via the same smartphone-style LCD touchscreen as the smaller U-Series units, letting kitchens save their own custom cooling routines for consistent, repeatable results, or select pre-set cycles matched to the product type going in. A built-in food probe logs the actual core temperature through the cycle, giving accurate readings for HACCP records rather than relying on cabinet air temperature. The unit draws 900W on a 230V supply and runs on R290 refrigerant.
Build is stainless steel throughout with 70mm of insulation for strong thermal efficiency, and self-closing doors help hold that efficiency between openings during busy service. The door is reversible with a full-length easy-grab handle, useful when hands are cold or gloved from handling chilled food. At 150kg gross weight, it's a substantial, fixed piece of kitchen equipment rather than something repositioned often, and is backed by 2 years parts and labour warranty as standard.
