Why this blast chiller earns its place
The BFT15 is Foster's smallest tray-loading blast chiller/freezer, an undermount unit built for kitchens that need to hit food safety temperature drops without finding floor space for a full cabinet. It sits low, taking in cooler air from floor level, which makes it a genuine option under a low ceiling or in a high-ambient kitchen where a standard upright would struggle. The colour-coded BFT touchpad is designed so any member of staff can select and start a cycle correctly first time — press and go, with the display showing exactly where the cycle is up to.
Capacity is 5 x GN 1/1 gastronorm trays (pans supplied separately). Run as a chiller, it takes food from +70°C down to +3°C in under 90 minutes — the standard cook-chill benchmark. Run as a freezer, it drops the same load from +70°C to -18°C in under four hours. A temperature probe gives precise, monitored control through both cycles rather than a timed guess, and once a cycle finishes the unit switches to an overnight hold so thawed or chilled food stays safe until it's needed. The cabinet runs on R452a refrigerant, drawing 936W at 230V, and holds a working range of -18°C to +1°C.
Construction is 304 stainless steel, interior and exterior, with a right-hand hinged solid door and a gross weight of 108kg. It's mounted on 4 x 80mm lockable castors, so it can be positioned and locked in place rather than plumbed in as a fixed installation. Foster backs it with a 2-year on-site parts and labour warranty.
