Why this chest cooler earns its place
The EBC45 is a chest cooler for bulk chilled storage — drinks, produce and packaged stock held at fridge temperature rather than frozen. With 352 litres gross and 349 litres net in a top-opening white cabinet, it takes the volume that would clog an upright and keeps it accessible from above. It is a chiller, not a freezer, so it fills the gap between a bottle fridge and a cold room.
It holds +3 to +10 °C using static cooling under an electronic controller, with manual defrost. It runs quietly at 44 dB, so it can sit front or back of house without intruding. At energy class B it uses 204.4 kWh a year — about £51 a year at 25p/kWh (EEI 12.8) — and its climate class 4 rating means it holds temperature in warmer, busier rooms.
The cabinet measures 1326 × 696 × 857 mm externally and 1192 × 472 × 686 mm inside, shipping packed at 1370 × 710 × 880 mm — check that width against your doorways before delivery. It runs off a standard 13 amp supply at 220-240 V, drawing 250 W, and uses R600a refrigerant with a 72 g charge.
