Why this stainless lid topping unit earns its place
The Blizzard TOP1500EN is a gastronorm topping unit that sits on top of a prep counter or fridge base, giving kitchens a chilled holding surface for the ingredients staff dip into constantly during service. Lift the hinged stainless steel lid and there's space underneath for GN 1/3 containers up to 150mm deep, keeping toppings, fillings and garnish at temperature between orders rather than sitting out on the worktop. At 1500mm wide it suits a single prep station — a pizza bench, a sandwich counter or a salad station where the same handful of ingredients gets accessed hundreds of times a shift.
Cooling is static, run on R600a refrigerant through a Dixell digital controller that's simple to read and adjust mid-service. Consumption is rated at 110 kWh a year and the unit runs off a standard 13-amp plug-and-play supply, so no dedicated circuit is needed to install it. Climate class 4 covers ambient kitchen conditions up to 30°C, which suits the vast majority of UK commercial kitchens without extra ventilation, and defrost is manual — a periodic switch-off clears any ice build-up.
Construction is stainless steel inside and out for the repeated wipe-down cleaning a topping unit needs through a shift. The hinged lid has a lock position, so it can be propped open during prep and dropped shut between orders to protect the GN pans from splashes and steam. At 1500 x 395 x 281mm and 72kg gross, it sits flush on a matching prep counter without overhanging the worktop edge, and a simple on/off switch with low-profile branding keeps it unobtrusive on a busy line.
