Why this stainless lid chest freezer earns its place
The EL45SS is a solid-lid chest freezer for high-volume frozen storage where bulk capacity matters more than shelving. It gives 416 litres gross and 361 litres net in a white cabinet finished with a stainless lid, so it stands up well to a working environment. Chest layout means you load and stack from the top, which holds cold better than an upright every time the lid is opened — good for stock that is stored long and reached for less.
Day to day it holds -23 to -16 °C on a mechanical controller, so operation is simple with no menus to navigate. Defrost is manual, so schedule a periodic defrost into your cleaning routine. It draws just 127 W in use, and at 584 kWh a year (energy class C) that works out at about £146 a year to run at 25p/kWh.
The cabinet measures 1186 mm across internally and packs to 1345 × 760 × 940 mm (W×D×H), so check your delivery route against the packed width. It is light for its capacity at 68 kg gross and 64 kg net. Power is a standard 13-amp supply at 220-240 V, and cooling uses R600a hydrocarbon refrigerant with an 85 g charge.
