Why this chest freezer earns its place
The Polar G-Series GP898 is a 581-litre chest freezer with a stainless steel lid — a genuinely large-capacity option for restaurants, takeaways and commercial kitchens that need serious frozen bulk storage without an upright cabinet's footprint. It holds -25°C to -18°C, well within the -18°C optimum for long-term storage, and is built for the demands of daily commercial use rather than occasional light duty.
Two removable baskets organise the 581 litres of capacity, keeping regularly-used stock accessible rather than buried at the bottom of a full chest. Cooling is static, running at a quiet 38dB and drawing 190W on a 220-240V supply — Polar rates the unit Energy Class E, and like the rest of the G-Series range it's built to keep working in ambient conditions up to +43°C (climate class T), so a hot back-of-house doesn't compromise the temperature inside.
The stainless steel lid doubles as genuine work surface — useful economy of floor space — over a steel-bodied cabinet with a white finish and aluminium interior. Defrost is manual, and an always-on LED display gives a constant readout via the digital controller. The refrigerant is R600a, a natural hydrocarbon gas, and the 97kg unit is supplied on castors for repositioning and cleaning. It carries 2 years parts and labour cover.
