Why this solid lid chest freezer earns its place
The Tefcold GM200 is a solid-lid chest freezer for commercial kitchens and back-of-house stores that need reliable frozen storage in a small footprint. With 189 litres gross and 185 litres net behind a solid, insulated lid, it takes frozen stock off the floor without taking up a wide bay. The compact chest format loads and rotates by hand and fits sites where an upright or larger cabinet will not go.
The freezer works across a -24 to -14 °C band on static cooling, controlled by a mechanical thermostat. Defrost is manual, so build a periodic defrost into the cleaning rota. It runs at 42 dB, quiet enough for front- or back-of-house, and carries a climate class 4 rating so it holds temperature in warm ambient rooms. Energy class F at 237.2 kWh a year works out to about £59 a year at 25p/kWh.
The cabinet measures 734 × 700 × 945 mm (W×D×H) and weighs 43 kg empty, so it moves and sites easily, clearing standard doorways on its 734 mm width. It connects to a standard 13 A supply on 220-240 V and draws 150 W, with no drain to plumb. Cooling uses R600a hydrocarbon refrigerant with a 44 g charge. The exterior and interior are both white.
