Why this solid lid chest freezer earns its place
The Elcold EL45 is a compact solid-lid chest freezer for bulk frozen storage where floor space is tight. With 416 litres gross and 361 litres net, it holds deliveries, batch-cooked stock and frozen lines in a cabinet just under 1.2 metres of internal width. The solid, insulated lid holds temperature between openings, suiting stock that is loaded and left rather than picked from throughout service.
The freezer runs at -23 to -16 °C under a mechanical controller, with manual defrost — the cabinet is emptied and cleared periodically rather than running an automatic cycle. It uses R600a refrigerant with an 85 g charge. Rated at 584 kWh a year with a C energy rating and 127 W input, that works out at about £146 a year at 25p/kWh.
Internally the storage space measures 1186 × 536 × 696 mm, and the cabinet packs to 1345 × 760 × 940 mm for delivery at 68 kg gross, 64 kg net — light enough to position without special handling, though measure access first. It runs from a standard 13 amp supply at 220–240 V, and is finished in white inside and out.
