Why this descaler earns its place
Suma Scale D5.2 is an acidic descaler built to shift limescale from the equipment that suffers most from hard water – dishwashers, kettles, beverage machines and general kitchen surfaces. Being acidic, it works quickly on scale and oxide film, and it's formulated to brighten dull, scaled metal back up rather than just removing the visible deposit.
Contact time is short: 10-15 minutes for general cleaning tasks, extending to 30 minutes when descaling a dishwasher. Dilution changes with the job – 1:3 in a bucket for surface and equipment cleaning, 1:5 for a 20-litre dishwasher, and 1:10 when made up in a trigger spray bottle, where one 5-litre bottle stretches to roughly 25 spray bottles' worth of ready solution.
It's safe for use on stainless steel and chrome, the two finishes most catering equipment is built from, so it can be used on kettles, dishwasher interiors and worktops without damaging the finish. The diluted solution is food-safe, making it suitable for use throughout a commercial kitchen. As a concentrate it's classed as both corrosive and an irritant, so gloves and standard PPE apply when handling it undiluted.

Control of Substances Hazardous to Health — the routine every commercial kitchen and cleaning cupboard is expected to run.

SDS
Read the label and the manufacturer’s safety data sheet — the pictograms tell you what you are holding.

Who could be harmed, and how badly? Judge likelihood against severity before anyone opens the cap.

Eliminate or substitute first, engineer and organise next — PPE is the last line, never the first.

Keep the controls working: check ventilation, dosing equipment and storage stay as they should be.

Everyone who uses it knows the hazards, the correct dilution and the PPE — before the first shift, not after.

Products and processes change. Reassess when they do, and keep the record that proves it.
