Why this racking trolley earns its place
This is Cambro's Camshelving GN 2/1 Food Pan Trolley — a mobile rack built to move 36 trays of gastronorm pans between prep, cook and service, sized for the 2/1 (double) GN bay. Where most trolleys on the market are welded aluminium or steel, Cambro builds this one from a composite that the manufacturer rates as stronger than steel, without the failure points that come with metal: no weld joints to crack, no rust, no corrosion creeping in after months of washdown.
That composite build pays off in the details. Rails are spaced 7.6cm apart for easy loading and unloading, with 3mm pan stops at each end holding trays steady in transit rather than sliding as the trolley moves. Everything is modular and component-based, so parts wear and replace individually instead of the whole unit being written off. It runs quiet, too — none of the metal-on-metal rattle you get wheeling a steel trolley across a tiled floor.
It's a genuinely sizeable piece of kit: 1707mm tall, 645mm wide and 835mm deep, on castors for indoor mobility, with a gross weight of 70.8kg. The speckled grey finish is deliberately front-of-house presentable as well as back-of-house tough, so it can go straight past the pass without looking like a piece of warehouse equipment.
