The Fan in Box Double Skin is a packaged extraction unit designed to sit in your ductwork, roof, or external mounting point. The double-skin construction—inner and outer shells with insulation between—serves three purposes: it dampens noise from the fan motor, reduces heat transfer (important if your ductwork runs through unconditioned spaces), and insulates against condensation that would otherwise drip back into your kitchen. At 550 mm per side and 28 kg, it's a robust piece of engineering designed to run shift after shift in a busy extraction system.
The double-skin envelope keeps your kitchen quieter during service. A fan running inside an insulated box is significantly less intrusive than a raw fan motor in ductwork. You'll notice the difference during peak service—your staff can communicate without shouting over extraction noise. The insulation also protects against condensation, which is a real problem in UK kitchens: warm, humid kitchen air hits cold ductwork in your roof space, condenses, and drips back down.
