Why this extraction fan earns its place
The Fan in Box 7/7 is an enclosed inline extraction fan, built to sit within a commercial kitchen's ventilation ductwork rather than out in the open. Its job is straightforward: pull cooking fumes, heat and grease-laden air out of the kitchen and canopy system and push it on through the duct run to the outside. Kitchens with long duct runs or awkward extract routes use a boxed fan like this to add pulling power at a point along the ducting, rather than relying on the canopy fan alone.
The fan and motor sit inside a steel enclosure rather than an open frame, which keeps the mechanism protected from the grease and moisture that travel through an extract system and cuts down on the noise the fan puts out. Ducting connects to the box at its spigots, keeping the airflow sealed through the run rather than leaking into the ceiling void or plant space it's fitted in.
At 445 × 445 × 455 mm and 22 kg, it's compact enough to fit into a ceiling void, external ductwork run or plant area without a bespoke housing being built around it. Fitters mount it in-line with standard ducting; because it runs continuously whenever the kitchen extract is live, it's worth including it in the same service schedule as the rest of the extraction system so grease build-up inside the casing gets checked and cleared.
