THE WORKING VIEW

Why this extraction fan earns its place

The FAN IN BOX 12/9/900 is a self-contained extraction unit ready to slot into an existing ductwork run. Built as a square enclosure measuring 650 mm on all sides, it integrates the fan motor, housing and mounting brackets in a single, pre-assembled package — no additional fabrication or external frame needed.

This is a workhorse for mid-range extraction systems where space above or behind the kitchen is limited. The compact cube form means it fits into tight ceiling runs and standard residential or commercial kitchen builds. At 26 kg, it's hefty enough to stay put when mounted but light enough that a two-person installation won't struggle.

Use this unit where airflow coverage is the priority and you want the ductwork to do the guiding. Pair it with ducting sized to match your hood or canopy outlet, and it handles the move from the kitchen through walls or ceilings without fuss. Cleaning access and filter maintenance are straightforward — the box design keeps moving parts tidy and away from dust and grease.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

The 12/9 designation in the model name refers to the inlet and outlet connections. Check the product sheet for exact flange sizes, then match your ducting accordingly. Undersized ducts cause strain on the motor; oversized reduces efficiency.

Kitchens are demanding environments. Check filters every 2–4 weeks and clean them as needed — grease and dust build-up blocks airflow. The fan motor itself is sealed, but if it starts to sound strained or gets warm, contact the Craven Cooling service team on 01792

The cube design mounts in standard ceiling cavities and horizontal ductwork runs. Check the installation guide for bracket orientation — incorrect mounting stresses the bearings and shortens the unit's life.

At 26 kg, the fan needs proper structural support where it mounts. Work with your installer to ensure joists or steelwork above can take the load plus vibration and the weight of connected ductwork.

Blocked ducts force the motor to work harder, wasting energy and generating heat. If a fire valve or damper is stuck or blocked, clear it immediately — a strained fan won't last.
