THE WORKING VIEW

Why this extraction fan earns its place

The FAN 10/10/1400 is the step-up unit for kitchens moving beyond the smallest setups. At 333 × 415 × 440 mm and 11 kg, it's still compact enough for tight ceiling voids yet capable enough to handle a proper service counter or kitchen section without overwork. The 10/10 format (10-inch inlet and outlet) balances capacity with the real-world constraint of fitting into standard kitchen build geometry.

This is the workhorse for restaurants, cafés, and pubs running a solid prep operation and one or two cooking stations. It moves adequate air through typical ducting runs without demanding oversized vents or excessive electrical load. The centrifugal design isolates the motor and bearings from the worst of kitchen grease and steam, extending service life and keeping noise within reasonable bounds.

Installation is a straightforward job for a competent engineer. At 11 kg, weight distribution is no issue on standard joists or wall frames. The compact dimensions mean you can fit it horizontally in a ceiling run, vertically on a wall, or within ductwork with minimal adaptation — check the documentation for orientation and vibration isolation recommendations.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

The 10/10 designation refers to nominal 10-inch (approximately 254 mm) inlet and outlet ports. Check the product sheet for exact flange dimensions, then size your ductwork to match — oversized ducts waste airflow efficiency, undersized ones create back-pressure and strain the motor.

It depends on your hood size, cooking load, and total ductwork run. A 9/9 suits a single-section hood or compact pass-through; a 10/10 handles wider hoods and longer ductwork runs. If you're unsure, discuss your kitchen layout with Craven Cooling — they'll recommend the right size.

Either works. Inline installation keeps the fan out of sight in ceiling voids; wall mounting keeps it accessible for filter checks and maintenance. Either way, vibration isolation is essential — rubber mounts stop the fan transmitting vibration into the building frame.

Grease and dust build up quickly in a busy kitchen. A clogged filter forces the motor to work harder, generating unnecessary heat and wasting energy. Clean every 2–3 weeks, or more often if you're frying. If it's been ignored and the motor sounds strained, call Craven Cooling on 01792

The standard FAN 10/10/1400 is an indoor unit not designed for rain or high humidity. If you need external extraction, ask about weatherproof or modified versions — different models or protective enclosures may be specified.
