THE WORKING VIEW

Why this extraction canopie earns its place

The Type 51 is the smaller member of Combisteel's deflector range — a 380 mm wide hood built for the spaces where full-size extraction isn't practical. At just 250 mm deep and 400 mm tall, it slots neatly above narrow cooking stations, small service counters, or prep areas that need spot extraction without a big structural footprint.

At 2 kg, it's one of the lightest extraction components you can install. It mounts easily to existing ducting and won't strain the support structure. The vertical design captures steam and heat directly where it rises, feeding them into your main extraction line without the complexity of a traditional hood.

This is the kind of component that works quietly in cafés, small pubs, and restaurant back-of-house areas where space is at a premium and you need extraction that doesn't dominate the room.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

Absolutely. The Combisteel design is built for commercial use. It will work reliably day-in, day-out in a small kitchen or zone. What matters is your extraction fan — it needs to be sized for the volume of air you're capturing.

Your installer will confirm based on your airflow requirements. The deflector itself works with standard commercial ducting sizes — the key is matching the fan capacity to your cooking load.

A qualified extraction engineer should fit it properly, especially if it needs to connect to your main ducting run or if there's any gas equipment nearby. Gas interlock requirements apply to most commercial kitchens.

The hood itself has a smooth surface. Dust it regularly with a dry cloth. Your main ducting will need periodic cleaning depending on your cooking volume — your installer or an extraction contractor can advise on a schedule.

This is a directional component, not a volume raiser. If you need more air movement, your extraction fan needs to be larger. Talk to our team about your cooking profile, and they'll recommend the right fan size.

If your kitchen has gas cooking, yes — extraction interlocks are usually a building control requirement. Your installer will sort this; call us on 01792 732702 if you need to discuss gas compliance for your setup.
