Why this ducting earns its place
Small kitchens with multiple hoods don't always extract evenly. One hood might pull hard while another seems sluggish—and you can't control it because you have a single extraction fan serving the whole kitchen. The Combisteel Horsering Till (damper ring) fixes this by restricting the ductwork where needed, forcing air towards zones that need it most.
The 200 mm size suits smaller commercial kitchens, cafés, prep rooms, and compact multi-hood installations. The damper ring uses a simple, proven design: a segmented metal ring that sits inside the ductwork and can be rotated to partially close the opening. This creates backpressure, redirecting airflow and balancing draw across all stations. Once positioned during commissioning, it requires no adjustment or maintenance—just fits and stays.
The benefits are real: all your hoods draw equally, your extraction fan doesn't work overtime to compensate, and you save electricity by avoiding the need to run the fan at full speed. It's a low-cost passive solution to a common small-kitchen problem.
