THE WORKING VIEW

Why this ducting earns its place

The Combisteel saddle right flank is designed to tap into an existing 450 mm extraction duct and branch off a secondary run—perfect when you need to add a new extraction point without interrupting the main airflow. It sits on the right side of the duct (hence "right flank") and bolts on cleanly.

Instead of cutting and rejoining your main duct, a saddle flank lets you keep the primary extraction intact while feeding off secondary branches—to a grease hood in the prep area, a separate dishpit, or makeup air returns. The 450 mm size makes it suitable for medium-to-large kitchen systems where the main extract trunk is substantial.

At 2 kg, it's a practical bolt-on component that your fit-out team can install during retrofit or new build. Because it doesn't require duct cutting, you avoid the weak points that come with manual sealing and jointing. Combisteel components are the trade standard: simple, proven, and stocked by suppliers nationwide.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

The flange is positioned on the right side of the duct when viewed from the air-flow direction. If you need the left side, order the left flank version. Make sure you match the orientation to your layout before ordering.

Yes—this is designed for 450 mm circular ducts. Measure your duct diameter to confirm. It won't seal properly on smaller or larger ducts.

A trained fitter should bolt it on and ensure a proper seal. If your extraction team is doing the work, they'll know the steps. If you're uncertain, get a professional on site—a loose saddle junction loses extract efficiency fast.

No—that's the point. The saddle flange bolts onto the duct surface, so the main run stays intact and uninterrupted. This keeps your primary extraction stable while you add the branch.

Bolt the flange down tightly, then tape or mastic the connection line where the flange meets the duct. Check it monthly for leaks, especially in kitchens where grease buildup can loosen seals.

The branch volume depends on the main duct pressure and how much you've opened the branch damper (if you have one). If weak, check that the branch duct isn't blocked and the damper is fully open. Call 01792 732702 if you need advice on balancing your system.
