THE WORKING VIEW

Why this ducting earns its place

When you need to branch your extraction duct—say, running a secondary hood or moving extraction to a different part of your kitchen—you need a fitting that joins cleanly without restricting airflow. The saddle fitting saddles onto the main duct and branches off at an angle, letting you extend coverage to new stations or equipment without installing a complex tee or elbow assembly.

This right-hand saddle is designed for 200 mm diameter ductwork, a standard size for medium to large kitchen extractions. At 1 kg, it's a straightforward, lightweight component that installs quickly during fit-outs or retrofits. The saddle design means minimal turbulence and pressure drop where the branch connects—important for maintaining extraction efficiency across your whole system.

Used in extraction system planning, these saddles are the practical way to expand coverage when you can't run a straight run from the main duct. They appear in phased fit-outs, in open-plan kitchens serving multiple cooking stations, and in complex layouts where ductwork needs to adapt. Proper sizing and positioning of saddle connections keeps airflow smooth and prevents dead zones where grease-laden air pools and builds up.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

A tee requires the main duct to be cut and joined on both sides—more work, more risk of leaks. A saddle clamps or bolts onto the outside of the main duct and branches off, so it's faster to install and needs no welding or sealing of the main line.

This is a right-hand saddle—it branches to the right. If your layout needs a branch going left, or if you need a 90° branch in the opposite direction, check with your fitter. Most fit-outs use a mix of right and left saddles depending on duct routing.

200 mm is the diameter of the main duct this saddle fits. If your extraction ductwork is 200 mm across (internal or external, depending on your system type), this is the right component. If you're unsure, measure the outside diameter of your main duct or check your extraction plans.

A properly installed saddle adds minimal resistance. The smooth internal transition means air keeps moving. If saddle placement blocks airflow because the branch is too close to a main duct elbow or filter, that's a design issue—consult your fitter or ring 01792

Either way. Saddles are standard in new extraction designs and work just as well replacing or retrofitting to existing systems. Just make sure it fits your duct diameter and the branch direction matches your layout.
