Why this charcoal oven earns its place
The Bertha Original is an enclosed charcoal grill engineered to outperform traditional open-flame cooking. Constructed entirely from 304 stainless steel, it locks in moisture and flavour where an open grill lets heat escape — your chargrilled meat and fish emerge succulent and properly charred, not dried out.
Performance is serious: it'll cook approximately 180 kg of meat per hour, operating efficiently across a wide temperature range from 120°C right up to 550°C. The enclosed design means you're achieving results 40% faster than traditional grills, which matters when service ramps and covers stack. Fifteen tray height options let you dial in your cooking plane — whether you're working small steaks, thick-cut burgers, fish sides or vegetables, there's a position that gives you the heat you need.
The design prioritises control and safety. Dual bottom air vents create two distinct heat zones, so you can run hot and cooler areas simultaneously — one side for sear, one for gentle finish. A fire break adds safety under traditional canopy hoods, and an accurate analogue thermometer at the front keeps you dialled in without guesswork. The insulated door and walls prevent heat from bleeding into the kitchen, which matters for staff comfort and energy efficiency during a long service.
