Why this upright fridge earns its place
The Polar U-Series UA030 is a large single door upright fridge built for restaurants that need to store substantial amounts of chilled ingredients without a heavy running-cost penalty. Rated 700 litres gross with 490 litres of usable capacity, it holds far more than a standard undercounter fridge while staying within a single-door footprint. The cabinet has 26 shelf positions at 5cm intervals, and full-size 1/1 or double-size 2/1 gastronorm trays can be hung directly on the runners without needing extra shelves, giving real flexibility in how the interior gets configured.
Running temperature is -2°C to +8°C, held by powerful forced air cooling that stays consistent even with the door opened regularly, drawing 243.4W on a 220-240V supply. Energy Class A performance means 365 kWh a year of consumption, with an EEI of just 25.0% — a genuinely low running cost for a cabinet this size. Climate class 5 covers demanding kitchens up to 40°C ambient, and internal LED lighting makes it easy to check stock levels without pulling everything out.
Construction is stainless steel inside and out, with pressed stainless steel side panels that remove the need for extra shelf runners. Three adjustable shelves are fitted as standard, each rated to hold 25kg, and the door is lockable with a self-closing action that improves both security and energy efficiency. At 165kg gross weight, it's mounted on sturdy lockable castors for easier positioning during cleaning or installation. Automatic off-cycle defrost keeps performance consistent without manual attention, and the whole unit is backed by 3 years parts and labour warranty — a year longer than the standard Polar cover.
