Why this double door saladette fridge earns its place
The KOLDBOX KXCC2-PREP is a compact double-door refrigerated saladette built for kitchens running sandwich, salad or pizza prep lines where under-counter width is tight. At 903mm wide, 700mm deep and 877mm high it sits comfortably under a standard worktop run, giving two refrigerated doors below a GN topping well without eating the space a full-size prep counter would need. It's aimed at sandwich shops, delis and pizzerias assembling to order rather than storing bulk stock.
Behind the two doors sits 240 litres of gross storage across 2 adjustable GN1/1 shelves, kept cold by a fan-assisted cooling system and controlled by an integrated Dixell digital controller. Energy consumption runs at 170 kWh a year, and the R600a refrigerant charge keeps running costs and environmental impact down — R600a is the low-GWP gas most new counter units are moving to. Climate Class 4 rating means it's built to hold temperature reliably in a warm working kitchen, not just a chilled back-of-house store, and noise output is a modest 42 dB — quiet enough to sit front-of-house.
The cabinet is finished in 201 stainless steel inside and out, with 35mm insulation holding the cold in and rounded internal corners that make wipe-down cleaning straightforward. The GN-sized topping well accepts gastronorm containers up to 150mm deep (containers not supplied) under a hinged lid, with a 135mm deep polypropylene cutting board fitted over the top for direct prep. A replaceable door gasket, adjustable feet for levelling on uneven floors and an easily removable condenser filter keep day-to-day maintenance simple, and the whole thing runs off a standard 13amp plug — no dedicated three-phase supply needed.
