Why this glass topping unit earns its place
This G-Line topping shelf is a refrigerated unit built to the gastronorm format, sized for GN 1/3 pans. Its job is to keep prepped toppings, garnishes and cold ingredients chilled and within arm's reach above a prep line, so a busy section keeps its mise en place cold rather than sitting out during service. It is finished in SS201 stainless inside and out for a wipe-down, back-of-house build.
In daily use it holds +2 to +8 °C on static cooling, with manual defrost — the operator clears it down as part of the cleaning routine rather than it cycling automatically. It runs quietly at 40 dB, which keeps it unobtrusive over a prep station, and uses R600a refrigerant with a 45 g charge under an electronic controller. It draws 963.6 kWh a year, about £241 at 25p/kWh.
On install it is a low-draw unit: a 220–240 V 50 Hz supply on a 13 A circuit, drawing 110 W. It weighs 31 kg net and 35.5 kg gross, sitting above the counter to keep chilled pans presented and to hand without taking prep space below.
