Why this stainless lid chest freezer earns its place
The Elcold EL61SS is a solid-lid chest freezer built for bulk frozen storage in back-of-house, giving 492 litres of usable space (556 litres gross) under a hinged stainless-steel lid on a white cabinet. In a working kitchen it is the deep store: the unit that holds batch-cooked stock, bulk meat, fish and frozen prep for the long haul, freeing your reach-ins and prep counters for daily service.
Day to day it runs across a -23 to -16 °C band under a mechanical controller, so setting and holding temperature is a single dial rather than a menu. It uses natural R600a refrigerant with a 110 g charge, is rated energy class C, draws 163 W in use and costs about £184 a year in electricity at 25p/kWh. Defrost is manual, and climate class 3 means it is built to hold temperature in a warm back-of-house ambient.
The cabinet measures 1700 mm wide, 729 mm deep and 861 mm high, and weighs 82 kg. It ships packed at 1760 × 760 × 940 mm, so check doorways and access routes against that 1760 mm packed width before delivery. It runs from a standard 13 amp, 220-240 V/50 Hz supply, so no special electrical install is needed beyond a dedicated socket within reach.
