Why this solid lid chest freezer earns its place
The LHF540 is a large solid-lid chest freezer built for bulk frozen storage at the back of a working kitchen. It offers 491 litres gross and 426 litres net, so it takes the volume overflow that upright freezers cannot — carcass portions, catch, prepped stock and seasonal buys held long-term rather than fetched every service. The solid lid and white finish inside and out keep it robust and easy to wipe down.
Day to day it holds -23 to -16 °C under a mechanical controller, with manual defrost — you clear the ice down on a schedule rather than the unit doing it for you. At energy class C it uses 708.1 kWh a year, which is about £177 a year at 25p/kWh (EEI 32.4). Input power is 176 W.
The cabinet measures 1386 × 536 × 696 mm internally and ships packed at 1545 × 760 × 940 mm, so plan the delivery route and final position around the packed footprint. It runs off a standard 13 amp supply at 220-240 V, using R600a refrigerant with a 108 g charge.
