Why this solid lid chest freezer earns its place
The Elcold EL22 is a compact solid-lid chest freezer for frozen storage where floor space is tight but a dedicated freezer is still needed. It gives you 177 litres of usable capacity (200 litres gross) behind an insulated solid lid, holding a -23 to -16 °C band that suits meat, fish and frozen prep. The white cabinet is a plain, wipe-clean box that slots into a small back-of-house or under-bench corner.
Operation is simple and mechanical: a mechanical controller sets the temperature and defrost is manual, so a periodic defrost goes into your cleaning routine rather than running on its own. It is rated climate class 3 and carries a C energy class, using 343.1 kWh a year — about £86 at 25p/kWh — from 125 W input power. The chest format holds cold air in the cabinet when the lid is opened, keeping the frozen load stable through repeated access.
The freezer measures 720 × 729 × 861 mm externally and weighs 43 kg net, light and small enough to site in a corner or through a standard doorway; packed it ships at 765 × 760 × 940 mm. It runs from a standard 13 amp, 220-240 V supply and uses R600a refrigerant with a 60 g charge.
