Why this low temperature chest freezer earns its place
The SE40-45 is the large-volume model in the low-temperature chest range, built for kitchens and producers that need to hold a serious quantity of stock far below a standard freezer's reach. It offers 400 litres gross and 392 litres net across an internal space of 1340 × 440 × 705 mm, and runs down to -45 °C, far colder than an ordinary commercial freezer.
It holds a temperature band of -45 to -5 °C under an electronic controller, with static cooling and a manual defrost, so a defrost needs to be scheduled into your cleaning routine. Running noise is rated at 45 dB, and it carries climate class 3, so site it away from ovens and other heat sources to hold that deep-freeze temperature reliably.
The cabinet is 1504 × 705 × 945 mm externally — a wide unit, so measure your floor space and access route before delivery — and weighs 83 kg. It plugs into a standard 13 A socket on a 220–240 V supply and uses R290 hydrocarbon refrigerant with a 70 g charge. It draws about 2,014.8 kWh a year — roughly £504 a year at 25p/kWh.
