Why this walk-in fridge earns its place
The Tefcold CRPF1824 is a walk-in chiller room supplied as a single package — insulated panels, monoblock cooling and electronic control together — giving a kitchen roughly 1640 × 2240 mm of floor and 2040 mm of height in one cold store. It holds fresh stock at a steady 0 to +8 °C, the chilled band that meat, dairy and prepped ingredients need, so bulk deliveries and daily mise en place live in one place instead of spread across several upright cabinets.
Day to day it runs on R290 refrigerant with a 130 g charge and defrosts automatically by hot gas, clearing ice without staff shutting the room down. The electronic controller holds the setpoint across the 0 to +8 °C range and the plant draws 860 W in use. Rated at 60 dB, it is a back-of-house machine rather than a front-of-counter one, and the white internal lining wipes down for routine hygiene and HACCP checks.
The room ships as flat panels that assemble on site, with a single hinged solid door giving a 700 mm wide by 1845 mm high opening for trolleys and stock movement. Built up it weighs 470 kg net (500 kg gross), so a level, load-bearing floor matters. Cooling is by R290 and the setpoint is managed electronically; running the chiller continuously works out at about £1708 a year at 25p/kWh.
