Why this salad bar earns its place
The CU531 is a drop-in refrigerated well. At 1486 mm wide, 660 mm deep and only 396 mm tall, it's designed to recess into an aperture cut in a serving counter so the refrigerated well sits flush with the top surface. That build-in format is what makes it a self-service and buffet fixture: chilled product—salads, prepared items, drinks—is presented in the counter line where customers or staff serve from it directly. It holds up to four full-size gastronorm pans, making it ideal for buffet and deli service.
The CU531 uses Moffat's Polar Air Stream technology to deliver a constant cold-air curtain across the well, maintaining food safety temperatures without requiring lids or covers. Because it is a built-in unit, it suits a fixed serving counter where a freestanding cabinet would not fit or would break the run. It integrates chilled display into the counter itself instead of adding a separate piece of equipment. At 106 kg and drawing just 1500 W, it's relatively lightweight and energy-efficient for a refrigerated fixture.
Installation is a counter build. The well recesses into an aperture, so the counter needs to be cut and prepared to the unit's dimensions, with the electrical supply run to that position. Stainless-steel construction is robust and food-safe. Size the counter build and aperture against the figures in the specification table before fabrication. Craven Cooling can advise on siting and handles installation and servicing.
