Why this food to go earns its place
The FA953 is the lid element of Lockhart's Food To Go range, moulded in PET to a rectangular two-compartment shape and packed 300 to a case. It goes on at the last moment before a meal leaves the kitchen — a main and a side, a curry and its rice, something wet that has to stay off something dry — and its job is to hold that separation intact while the pack is stacked, carried and handed over. A two-compartment top only works if it seats square on a filled base, so the moulding is the whole point: the divider has to land where the divider below it is.
It is rated for all hot foods, dry and wet alike, which is the harder half of the test. A lid sitting over gravy, sauce or curry spends the entire journey in steam, and the thing that fails first on a cheap lid is the rim — it softens, lifts at a corner and the condensation that has run down the inside goes into the bag rather than back into the food. PET is the standard choice at this end of the market because it holds its shape over a hot wet fill and stays clear enough that staff can check a pack without opening it. It is microwavable, so a portion can be reheated where it lands instead of being tipped into something else first. At 300 to a case, this is a volume line — the buy a kitchen makes when hot packs go out every service, not occasionally.
