Why this plate earns its place
Steelite's Nyx Nordic coupe plates are designed around a simple, powerful idea: the high-contrast black ceramic field amplifies the visual intensity of food placed on it. Colours appear more vibrant, textures more defined, and the overall presentation feels more intentional and composed. For restaurants where the visual language of the plate matters—fine dining, modern European, tasting menus—this is a deliberate choice that affects how diners perceive and photograph the dish.
The rimless profile is distinctly contemporary. Instead of a frame, the black ceramic itself becomes the design element, giving plating a gallery-like quality where the food is the absolute focal point. The 280mm diameter is the most common dinner-plate size in commercial service; large enough for generous portions or well-composed mains, familiar enough that diners expect exactly this dimension.
At 28mm height, these are shallow plates suited to composed plating styles rather than deep bowls. They stack securely for storage and transport, and the ceramic is durable across commercial dishwashing cycles without degradation. Each coupe plate weighs approximately 0.24 kg; the pack of 12 is light enough to move around a working kitchen without strain.
