Why this plate earns its place
Melamine plates are the go-to for venues where ceramic isn't practical—schools, care homes, outdoor catering, and quick-service operations where breakage is a daily cost. These 267mm (10.5-inch) plates are sized for main courses, with enough rim for plating technique. Melamine is plastic—lightweight, durable against impact, and harder to break than porcelain. The narrow rim means more usable surface without bulk.
At 2.65kg for twelve plates (220 grams each), they're light enough for a server to carry double stacks without wrist strain. Stackable and dishwasher-safe, they rotate through wash cycles quickly. The white finish is clean and neutral. Melamine does scratch under abrasive scouring and can stain with certain foods, but the cost-per-plate reflects that—replacement is planned into the budget.
