THE WORKING VIEW

Why this commercial dishwasher earns its place

The SD50A IS D is the complete package: everything the standard SD50A offers, plus integral water softening and an integral drain pump. That combination solves two real problems in catering kitchens.

First, water softening. In hard-water areas, spotting on glassware and scaling inside equipment are constants. The integral softener removes that—soft water from the start of every cycle, so you get spotless catering ware without external systems or annual whole-site infrastructure. It's a straightforward win.

Second, the integral drain pump. No gravity drainage required. You don't need to position the machine where plumbing allows; you position it where it works for your kitchen layout. That's a huge advantage in retrofits, tight spaces, or kitchens where gravity drainage isn't available. The pump handles waste water removal automatically.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

The softener removes hard water problems (spotting, scaling, detergent waste). The pump removes plumbing problems (gravity drainage constraints, tight spaces). Together, you get spotless results and placement flexibility. You can site this machine almost anywhere in your kitchen that has power and water access—no gravity drainage line required.

It exchanges hard minerals (calcium and magnesium) for sodium, softening your wash water automatically. Every cycle benefits. The resin bed inside gradually wears over months of use depending on your water hardness; annual service typically includes checking and regenerating the resin. It's routine maintenance, not a burden.

Essentially yes. You need electrical supply and incoming water, which you'd have anyway. The drain pump pulls waste water away, so you don't need a gravity-fed waste outlet below the machine. That gives you far more placement options than gravity-drained machines. Confirm with your installer, but retrofit and tight-space placements become much easier.

Three minutes per cycle means up to 20 racks per hour at maximum throughput. Real-world numbers depend on your loading pattern and continuous vs. burst operation. For most restaurants, cafés, and catering kitchens, that's adequate; very high-volume venues might need two units.

It cools water between the wash and rinse cycles, preventing thermal shock that can crack delicate pottery or catering ware. Especially valuable if you wash fine china or decorated crockery regularly. Even for standard ceramics, it reduces breakage over time.

Yes. It's a simple, durable component. Most venues run these for years without issues. If a fault develops, the engineer diagnostic mode flags it clearly, so you know what's happening. Call 01792 732702 if you see pump-related error codes.
