THE WORKING VIEW

Why this commercial dishwasher earns its place

The DC PD50A D is the standard PD50 with a crucial addition: an integral drain pump and break tank. This matters if your dishwash zone doesn't have gravity fall to the waste line, or if the distance to waste is awkward. Instead of raising the dishwasher on a plinth or running an expensive low-point drain stub, the integral pump lifts wastewater and delivers it uphill or across the kitchen to the waste line.

The pump and break tank are built in and automated — they run after every cycle without thought. You get the same reliable 500×500 mm frontloading performance as the standard PD50: touchscreen controls, four fixed cycles plus adjustable My Wash, superior chemical dosing. Real-time temperature readouts and cycle logging keep your compliance records clean. Double-skinned insulation keeps heat in and noise down. Heavy-duty wash pump and hydro-dynamic basket runners handle high throughput through a full service.

The break tank itself is a water-pressure buffer that protects the whole wash circuit from surges and spike damage. Combined with the drain pump, it means you can plumb the dishwasher almost anywhere in the kitchen — tight corners, raised benches, even slightly elevated from waste, and it'll still drain reliably. Perfect for kitchen retrofits where plumbing flexibility was never in the original design.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

A standard dishwasher relies on gravity — the waste outlet needs to be lower than the wash tank. If your kitchen's plumbing layout doesn't allow that (tight space, raised worktops, distance from waste), the pump lifts wastewater actively, so you can place the machine wherever it makes sense operationally.

The break tank is a water-pressure buffer in the incoming water line. It absorbs pressure spikes from the mains or from the wash circuit running, so the boiler, softener (if fitted), and wash chambers aren't shocked by sudden pressure changes. That extends the life of seals and pumps.

The integral pump runs during the drain phase of each cycle. It's not silent, but it's automated — it finishes and stops. The double-skinned insulation around the wash cabinet keeps noise levels reasonable for a commercial kitchen.

The pump is part of the machine, covered by your standard Craven warranty. If it develops a fault, ring Craven on 01792 732702 — engineers can access diagnostic logs and repair or replace it. It's a built-in component, not an external add-on, so servicing is straightforward.

The pump and break tank are built in and come as part of the machine. You only need standard incoming water and a waste outlet — the pump handles the lifting. Installation cost depends on your plumbing distance; your Craven Cooling installer can survey and quote once you order.

The pump handles the wash-water drain stream as-is. The machine's internal drain path filters out large particles before the pump inlet. For particularly heavy use, your installer may suggest a grease trap on the waste outlet (normal kitchen best practice anyway), but the pump itself doesn't need additional filtration to run.
