Why this ground coffee earns its place
Beaumont No.4 Decaf 500 g is the catering-format bag of the same 100% Brazilian Arabica used in the pre-portioned pouches: washed process, grown at 900–1,000 m, methyl-chloride decaffeinated to 97% caffeine removal, hand-roasted and packed in the UK. The flavour profile is clean and sweet — dark chocolate, toffee, shortbread, a nutty finish — without the hollow, papery aftertaste that plagues commodity decaf.
The omni-grind sits between a cafetière coarse and a filter drip grind. It's versatile by design: coarse enough for a 4-minute cafetière plunge without overextraction, fine enough to develop body in a batch filter brewer. For sites running both brewer types — a cafetière for the meeting room, a filter machine for the breakfast buffet — one bag covers both. It's not an espresso grind; don't put it through a portafilter.
The 500 g bag is the practical unit for professional kitchens: roughly 25–30 cafetière serves or 8–10 full filter batches per bag. Reseal the bag, store cool and dark (never the fridge), and use within two weeks of opening for peak flavour. Pair with filtered water — chlorine and scale both mute decaf's subtler notes — and a clean brewer, and you get café-quality decaf from equipment you already own.
