THE WORKING VIEW

Why this stainless steel tables with upstand earns its place

The Combisteel 600 Worktable at 2000 mm is a proper production table. Two metres of 430 stainless steel at standard height (850 mm), deep enough for real prep work (600 mm), with a raised back edge to contain splashes and keep the workspace tidy. This is the table for restaurants running multiple covers, for butchers hanging and dressing, for catering operations prepping meals in volume, or for any kitchen where two people can stand at one table and both work without getting in each other's way.

The open frame construction means nothing gets trapped underneath. You can clean the whole thing head to toe without moving it — spray it down, squeegee the water, dry it properly. Stainless steel 430 is food-safe, corrosion-resistant, and cleans to better than new if you're using a degreaser. At 75 kg it's solid enough to feel stable under load — stacks of trays, hot pans, prep containers — but still moveable if you need to reorganise the kitchen or do a deep clean of the floor.

The flat-pack design means it doesn't need specialist delivery or on-site assembly teams. Build it yourself in minutes, position it where it belongs, and start working. For kitchens doing the volume that justifies a two-metre table, this is a no-nonsense choice.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

If you have the floor space, two metres gives you serious working room — enough for two people side by side, or a team passing work along the length. If your kitchen is tight, consider the 1200 mm or 1600 mm versions. If you're doing high volume, this width rarely feels too big once it's in service.

Yes. The open frame means you can move it, and the upstand works from either the front or back. If you're rearranging the kitchen layout, reposition it without special equipment.

That depends on your workflow. Some kitchens use it as a central assembly line — input at one end, output at the other. Some use it for plating with holding at the sides. Some use one end for prep, the other for handover to servers.

The upstand is shallow, sitting at the table edge. At two metres you have plenty of clear working surface. The back edge just catches spills and splashes, preventing them running off the end.

The open frame is designed for normal kitchen loading — stacks of trays, hot pans, prep containers, working equipment. Position heavy items over the frame legs rather than toward the edges. At this width the design is stable; you're not fighting gravity.

Depends. An open frame is easier to clean underneath and easier to move if you need to reconfigure. A closed base gives you closed storage. Most busy kitchens choose open frame for flexibility — if you need storage, a separate shelving unit sits nearby.
