THE WORKING VIEW

Why this shelving unit earns its place

At 1500 mm, this unit runs the width of a walk-in cooler wall or a full cold-holding prep area. Four shelves at 400 mm depth keep everything within easy reach — no stretching to the back in a +2°C space. The 1800 mm height uses vertical space efficiently, stacking hotel pans, prep containers and mise in layers.

Nylon wire construction resists the rust and pitting that chrome suffers in high-humidity, salt-laden air. Use it in a seafood prep room, a butcher's chilled holding area, or a busy walk-in where condensation drips constantly. The wires grip containers firm even when beaded with condensation — no sliding when someone pulls a pan quickly.

The shallow 400 mm depth is a working choice: staff can see every shelf at a glance, reach the back without stepping into the unit, and inventory turns faster. Each shelf holds 30 kg safely — practical for mise en place, prep containers, and pre-plated items in a busy service. The frame is light enough to reposition if the kitchen layout changes or if you need to deep-clean behind it.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

Each nylon wire shelf holds 30 kg under normal use. Spread that weight evenly across the shelf. For a walk-in at +2°C, that suits hotel pans, prep containers and mise; heavier loads belong on a chrome or stainless steel unit.

Shallow depth keeps reach-back short and keeps inventory visible from the aisle. Deep shelves mean leaning into a chilled space, which slows staff and wastes energy. At 1500 mm wide, shallow depth is the right trade-off.

At 1500 mm wide and 1800 mm tall, check your walk-in doorway width and height. Standard walk-in doors are 900 mm to 1200 mm wide; a 1500 mm unit will need to tip and slide diagonally through the opening, or be assembled inside.

Both can stain if turmeric or beetroot juice sits overnight. Nylon absorbs colour slightly faster, but rinses clean just as easily. The key is prompt rinsing, not the material.

At 1500 mm wide with a shallow 400 mm depth, the unit is top-heavy if fully loaded on the top shelf. Wall brackets (sold separately) prevent tipping if staff lean against the frame or pull too hard. In a busy walk-in, anchoring is recommended.
