THE WORKING VIEW

Why this commercial kitchen shelving earns its place

When your kitchen or prep room is measured in inches, not feet, this 600 mm shelf is the answer. At just 600 mm wide and 400 mm deep, it fits into corners, above sinks, or in narrow galley spaces without dominating the wall. It's the smallest in the Combisteel wall-shelf range, but it's built with the same stainless steel 430 construction and comes with brackets ready to fit.

The shallow 400 mm depth means you're not losing much wall real estate, but you still have room for small goods, condiments, spice jars, or compact equipment. At 1 kg, it's light to handle and install. The stainless steel 430 finish resists the damp and daily cleaning that kitchens demand, and the integrated brackets mean you're not scrambling for fixings or making guesses about load paths.

For small kitchens, pop-up food services, or secondary prep areas, this compact shelf solves the "where do I put this?" problem. It's affordable enough to install a few and strategically place them where you actually need storage.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

It depends on what you're storing. 600 mm is ideal for condiments, spice containers, small equipment, or boxed stock. If you're planning to line hotel pans or full-size boards across it, you'll outgrow it quickly—step up to the 1200 mm or 1500 mm shelves. Use it as a tactical shelf, not your primary storage.

The width and depth are smaller, but the material and construction are identical: stainless steel 430, integrated brackets, light weight. It's the same engineering in a more compact package. If you're filling multiple small spaces, this is more practical than one large shelf.

Light to moderate loads: jars, containers, small equipment, packaging. Avoid stacking heavy cast equipment or full steamers on this shelf—the compact size and light weight aren't suited for concentrated heavy loads. Keep things distributed and balanced.

Measure the available wall width (600 mm is about the length of a standard kitchen ruler), and ensure you have at least 400 mm of clear wall depth for the shelf to project. Remember: the shelf sits on top of the brackets, so the actual shelf surface is 600 mm, but the mounting brackets may extend slightly on either side. Measure twice, order once.

For plasterboard, use toggle bolts or heavy-duty cavity wall anchors rated for your expected load. For solid masonry, standard masonry plugs and bolts work well. The brackets are supplied—check your wall type (solid or plasterboard) and use appropriate fixings. If unsure, consult a general handyman or call 01792 732702 for advice.

Wipe down weekly with warm soapy water and a soft cloth. For a shine, use a microfibre cloth with stainless-steel cleaner. Avoid abrasive scourers—they scratch the finish and leave it dull. The stainless 430 handles normal kitchen humidity well without special treatment beyond routine cleaning.
