THE WORKING VIEW

Why this extraction canopie earns its place

This labyrinth filter handles grease separation the smart way: as heated, greasy air flows through its channels, gravity and momentum cause grease to separate out and run down, while clean air continues upward to the ducting. No moving parts, no cartridges to replace, no power needed—just solid physics at work keeping your extraction running cleanly.

Built in AISI 304 stainless steel, it resists the corrosive salt and acids in cooking fumes and hot grease splashes. The 495 × 495 mm size suits larger extraction canopies in full-service kitchens and cooking-focused operations. At just 2 kg, it's manageable to lift and install, yet sturdy enough to hang reliably without flexing or warping. The 25 mm depth keeps it neat in the canopy frame while maintaining the channel depth needed for effective grease separation.

Maintenance is straightforward and cheap compared to cartridge systems. Every 2–3 weeks, spray warm degreaser through the filter to rinse accumulated residue, then flush with hot water and hang to dry. Unlike mesh filters that clog quickly and choke airflow, a labyrinth keeps working longer between cleans. This is especially valuable in high-volume kitchens where you need extraction to keep up all service long.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

This one is larger—495 × 495 mm—suited to canopies serving bigger cooking arrays or longer runs of equipment. The extra area means more surface for air to pass through, handling higher volume without choking. If your canopy is undersized, this size might be what you need to extract properly during service.

Choose labyrinth if you want to avoid cartridge replacement costs and have moderate (not extreme) grease loads. They work beautifully in cafés, prep areas, and kitchens not running constant deep frying. If you're running multiple fryers 8+ hours daily, a two-stage system (labyrinth first, cartridge second) often makes sense.

Check your canopy's filter bay dimensions. This filter is 495 × 495 mm, so your canopy frame needs to accommodate something close to that size. If you're replacing an existing filter, measure the old one—if it's a 500 × 500 or 495 × 495 labyrinth, this is the right replacement.

Yes, and many kitchens do. A labyrinth as a first stage catches heavy grease; a mesh or cartridge filter behind it captures finer aerosols. That extends cartridge life and keeps your extraction system working efficiently longer. It's a smart investment if you run high volumes.

That suggests either your extraction isn't running during service, your labyrinth is clogged, or you're running higher grease loads than a passive filter can handle. Clean the filter first—spray degreaser through and rinse. If buildup continues, ring 01792 732702 to discuss whether you need a more aggressive primary filter or a staged system.
