THE WORKING VIEW

Why this extraction canopie earns its place

The Box Filter is a cartridge replacement for extraction canopies that catch the grease and cooking particulates before they reach the ducting system. Cooking produces a mixture of heat, steam and grease-laden air; the filter stops the greasy particles from entering the ductwork where they'd accumulate, clog ducting, and create a fire hazard. When the filter loads up with grease over weeks of service, you swap it out for a clean one and dispose of the saturated cartridge.

The filter measures 595 × 45 × 595 mm, designed as a flat cartridge just 45 mm deep. The shallow profile fits within the confined space of a canopy hood without needing any adapter or housing work; it slots into the standard cartridge mounting on most commercial extraction canopies. The 595 mm face dimensions are designed to match standard commercial canopy dimensions, so you measure your existing housing and order this one confident it will fit properly.

At just 0.45 kg when clean, it's light enough for a single staff member to remove and replace without needing tools or calling for help. Replacement is straightforward: slide out the old saturated filter, slide the new one in, and the canopy is back to working at full efficiency. Keep spares on hand so you're never caught short mid-service when a filter clogs up earlier than expected. Regular cartridge changes are part of planned HACCP maintenance in any commercial kitchen; the material is intended to be disposed of as contaminated grease waste.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

It captures grease, cooking particulates, and moisture before they enter the ducting, which stops grease from accumulating in the ductwork and creating a fire hazard.

That depends on your cooking volume and type, but busy kitchens typically swap them weekly or fortnightly. When extraction efficiency drops noticeably, it's time for a fresh filter.

The 595 × 45 × 595 mm profile is designed for standard commercial extraction canopies. Check your existing cartridge dimensions to confirm, or contact Craven Cooling on 01792 732702 to verify.

Slide the old saturated filter out of the housing and slide the new one in — no tools needed, no downtime, and any staff member can do it quickly during service.

Saturated grease filters are contaminated waste and should be disposed of as commercial kitchen waste according to your local waste management protocols.

Yes — regular filter replacement is part of cleaning and maintenance documentation, and evidence of cartridge changes should be kept in your HACCP records.
