THE WORKING VIEW

Why this induction hob earns its place

The Lincat Lynx 400 is built for kitchens where responsiveness and energy efficiency matter. Induction heats cookware directly, not air: turn the dial, temperature changes in seconds. No gas delay, no electric coil lag. That responsiveness makes it perfect for precision cooking—sauces, reductions, plating work—and for theatre-style service where you're cooking in front of the customer.

At 6000W on a single 230V plug, it's not underpowered. Two cooking zones let you work with two different pans or pot sizes without waiting or swapping. Temperature range runs +0 to +190 °C, so you're going from a gentle simmer to hard sear. The lightweight, portable design—22.1 kg, just 115mm high—means it tucks into a pass corner, a prep station, or a tasting bar without taking up valuable real estate.

Energy efficiency is real. Induction only heats the pan; the cooktop stays cool to touch, and the kitchen temperature is 20–30% lower than it would be with gas all day. Over a year, that cuts both utility bills and air conditioning load. The sleek profile—600mm wide and deep—works in show kitchens and open-plan prep areas where visual clutter matters. Standard 2-year parts and labour warranty covers the heating system and electronics.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

Induction is nearly instant—adjust the dial and you feel the change in seconds. Compare that to gas (10–15 seconds to climb or drop) and you'll notice immediately in sauces, reductions, or any precision cooking.

Yes—ferrous metal only. Cast iron, steel, and some stainless pans work; most non-stick aluminium won't. Quick test: put a magnet on the bottom of the pan. If it sticks, the pan works. Copper and pure aluminium don't work on induction.

6000W on 230V single phase. Most kitchens can run this on a spare 13A circuit, though busy kitchens might want a dedicated circuit so it's not competing with other equipment for power.

Safer than gas. No open flame, and the cooktop itself stays cool—only the pan heats up. Once the pan comes off, the surface cools in seconds. Still treat it as hot equipment; molten pan is just as dangerous as a gas burner.

Indoors and weatherproofed indoors only. It's 230V plug-in, so you need mains power. Not designed for marquee or open-air catering.

Two years parts and labour covers heating and electrical failure. For service on 01792 732702 or through your equipment supplier.
