THE WORKING VIEW

Why this boiling ring earns its place

This Buffalo 600 Series hob replaces what might otherwise be two separate hob positions, consolidating serious cooking firepower into a compact 600mm footprint. Four heavy-duty hotplates — two at 1.5kW and two at 2kW — give you flexible power distribution: pair the two 2kW plates for aggressive searing or stock reduction, use the 1.5kW plates for gentler simmering or holding sauces warm. All four reach 450°C, so whether you're charring peppers, boiling stocks, or melting butter, you've got the temperature control to hit the mark.

Each 180mm plate has its own front-mounted dial control, so precision is built in. No guessing, no fighting with your teammates over whose turn it is to adjust the heat — you see the setting and you work it. Three-phase 400V, 7000W total draw means this hob integrates seamlessly into kitchens already running three-phase; if you're on single-phase, check with our team first on 01792 732702.

The base isn't just a stand — it's a strong stainless steel cupboard that brings the cooking surface to proper ergonomic height and provides real storage underneath for pans, trays, or equipment. That's found space most kitchens don't have. Two years' warranty covers the lot, and the straightforward dial controls mean there's little to go wrong.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

This hob is three-phase, 400V. Most commercial kitchens have three-phase supply, but if you're uncertain, contact our team on 01792 732702 — they'll check your incoming supply and advise on feasibility. A three-phase upgrade is possible but comes with electrical cost.

Plates reach up to 450°C, but you control it with the front dials — so yes, you can bring the heat right down for gentle simmering at 90–120°C. The two 1.5kW plates are particularly good for holding sauces warm without boiling them over. You're not locked to full power.

A cold plate reaches boil in roughly 3–5 minutes depending on pan size and starting temperature. Peak temperature (450°C) takes longer and isn't often needed. During normal service, you'll preheat one or two plates before rush and keep them on low during slower periods.

Yes — like any cooktop in a professional kitchen, it needs proper ventilation. Steam and cooking vapours rise immediately, so confirm your extractor is sized for the hob's output. If you're planning the installation, mention the hob details to your extraction engineer so they size the ductwork correctly.

Daily: wipe the plates with a damp cloth when cool (never immerse them). Weekly: use a mild cream cleaner on the stainless steel base. The dials shouldn't need cleaning unless they get visibly dirty — a damp cloth with mild soap works. Avoid abrasive scourers on the stainless finish.

Two years' parts and labour covers manufacturing faults. After that period, repairs are charged separately — but these hobs are simple (no complex electronics), so repair costs are usually low. Annual inspection is sensible in a busy kitchen. Ring 01792 732702 to book a service engineer.
