Why this medical fridge earns its place
The Polar FD169 pharmacy fridge is a 128-litre solid-door refrigerator designed for secure, controlled cold storage. It is built for pharmacies, residential care homes, schools and doctor's surgeries, with a lockable door so medicines, samples and other accountable stock stay restricted to authorised staff.
Temperature control is the point of the unit: the cabinet runs at +2 to +8 °C with forced-air cooling, and the manufacturer lists alarms for high temperature, low temperature, an open door and mains power disruption. Storage is arranged across three shelves, described as two sturdy shelves plus a half-size base shelf, so small packs can be separated and checked without turning the cabinet into a general-purpose kitchen fridge.
The 839 × 600 × 595 mm footprint makes it an undercounter medical fridge rather than a tall cabinet, and the 44 kg steel body is finished in white for a clinical back-of-house look. It runs from a 220V supply with a 150 W rated input and uses R600a refrigerant with GWP 3.
