Why this upright fridge earns its place
The Polar U-Series is a single-door upright fridge built specifically around bakery and patisserie trays rather than gastronorm pans — a genuinely different format for kitchens that bake on-site and need chilled storage sized to 600x400mm trays instead of standard GN shelving. It's aimed at bakeries, patisserie sections and any kitchen producing its own pastries, cookies or proofed dough that needs to be held cold before baking.
Capacity runs to up to 20 trays, with 18 recommended for practical loading, giving 534 litres of net volume (619 litres usable per Polar's own figures) at +2 to +5°C. Ventilated cooling keeps that range consistent even in demanding kitchen conditions — Polar rates the U-Series for ambient temperatures up to 43°C, well above a typical kitchen's working heat. Running cost is 788.4 kWh a year, Energy Class D, EEI 53.1%, on a 350W input — a modest draw for a unit built to work hard in a hot kitchen rather than sit in a cool back room.
The cabinet has a stainless steel exterior, built to the standard Polar uses across its commercial range, with lockable, reversible castors for security and flexible positioning. It takes 600x400mm trays only — 800x400mm trays won't fit — and no shelves are included since tray guides do that job instead. Defrost is manual, refrigerant is R290, and it carries 2 years parts and labour warranty. Trays themselves are sold separately.
