Why this counter fridges/freezer earns its place
The Foster FlexDrawer GM842 is a two-drawer counter fridge/freezer for prep lines that need flexible chilled or frozen holding below the working surface. Each drawer is independently controlled and removable, and can be set as a fridge or a freezer at the touch of a button — anywhere across a -21°C to +4°C range — so the unit can follow a changing menu or season without a second appliance.
It carries 152 litres in total, with each sliding drawer taking three full-size 1/1 gastronorm containers up to 150mm deep and rated to hold up to 200kg. Built from 304 stainless steel inside and out, the countertop is engineered to site hot cooking equipment such as griddles, induction hobs and boiling rings — a genuine advantage where space is tight. The unit measures 1100mm wide by 700mm deep and 900mm high, and weighs 130kg.
Cooling is fan-assisted on R290, a natural hydrocarbon refrigerant with a global-warming potential of just 3, and the unit is built to climate class 5 — rated to run in ambient temperatures up to 43°C. It draws 2300W from a 230V, 50Hz single-phase supply and is rated energy class C at around 1,087 kWh a year.
