Why this prep counter earns its place
The Polar G-Series GD878 is a countertop prep fridge — a refrigerated servery topper — for chilled ingredients held in gastronorm pans. Its listed 9× 1/3 GN capacity gives a long line of small chilled portions, so toppings, fillings, garnishes or salad components stay organised right at the point of assembly. At 2000mm wide but only 395mm deep and 435mm tall, it runs the full length of a make-line or servery without taking up work depth.
Cooling is static, holding a listed +2 to +8°C band, on an R600a refrigerant (GWP 3). The G-Series compressor is built to keep that temperature even when the kitchen climbs, holding food chilled in ambient conditions up to 32°C. A glass surround runs over the pans, doubling as a sneeze screen for self-service and helping keep the chilled ingredients hygienic and covered through service.
Use it where the menu calls for many small chilled portions kept visible and to hand, rather than one large refrigerated cabinet. It plugs into a standard 230V supply, is listed at 230W, and weighs 79kg — light enough to sit on a solid counter run but worth planning the position and clearance around.
