Why this stainless lid chest freezer earns its place
The EL53SS is a solid-lid chest freezer for bulk frozen storage. The top-opening chest format holds a deep, cold load and suits sites that buy frozen stock in volume, giving 491 litres gross and 426 litres net usable inside a white cabinet with a stainless lid.
It runs from -23 to -16 °C on a mechanical thermostat, with a solid hinged lid and R600a refrigerant, and carries a climate class 3 rating for siting in a stable indoor ambient. Defrost is manual, so the freezer is cleared and drained periodically rather than on an automatic cycle. It holds a C energy rating at 708.1 kWh a year — about £177 a year at 25p/kWh — drawing 176 W in use.
The cabinet measures 1500 × 729 × 861 mm externally and ships packed at 1545 × 760 × 940 mm, so check doorway and delivery access against the packed size. It runs from a standard 13 A supply at 220-240 V, holds 108 g of R600a, and weighs 67 kg net.
