Why this chest freezer earns its place
The Vestfrost VT147-60 is a compact low-temperature chest freezer built for storage well below the range of a standard commercial freezer, holding temperatures down to -60°C. That puts it in a different category to ordinary frozen food storage — it's aimed at labs, pharmacies and hospitals where samples, reagents or medical stock need genuinely deep-frozen, reliable conditions rather than a standard -18°C to -22°C chest freezer.
Running on R290 hydrocarbon refrigerant at 415W from a 220-240V supply, the VT147-60 holds 140 litres of capacity and operates across -60°C to -40°C, controlled through an intuitive digital XR30CX controller. It's prepared for temperature logging and fitted with audible and visual alarms if temperatures drift outside set levels — the combination that matters most when what's inside the freezer can't be allowed to warm up unnoticed. The unit is also prepared for a CO2 backup system, giving a further layer of protection against extended power loss.
Static cooling and automatic defrost keep the unit low-maintenance day to day, and the hinged lid is lockable for stock security. At 55.8kg gross, it's genuinely compact, and Vestfrost designs it to simply plug in — no specialist installation is required to get it running. It's backed by 3 years' parts and labour warranty.
